EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY EXPERT TO SPEAK AT
THE 26TH AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN AND BOYS CONFERENCE

AUSTIN, December 11, 2008 – Kai Ajala Dupé, educational technology expert and advocate for the global use of technology, will deliver the keynote speech at the 26th African American Men and Boys Conference on Saturday, December 13, 2008. The free event, presented by the African American Men and Boys Harvest Foundation, Inc., will be held at Round Rock High School in Austin, Texas.

"I work diligently to assist those around me to transform their lives through education, and hope that my words will inspire a new generation of leaders in the fields of education and technology," Dupé said.

The African American Men and Boys Harvest Foundation is a unique organization that brings together successful African American men to mentor and partner with African American boys within a structured environment, and with a specific focus on reducing the achievement gap between the boys and their peers.

The theme for this year's conference is "Individual Responsibility," and Dupé will speak on "Making Sacrifices Today for Tomorrow’s Success." The forum will include workshops for children and adults, and refreshments and door prizes will be awarded to attendees.

About Kai Dupé
Kai Ajala Dupé is an expert on educational technology and travels around the world advocating for the use of technology in education. In addition to running a small business called KDP, Dupé is an online instructor for Kaplan University where he teaches courses in programming and database design. Dupé voluntarily serves as Director of Communications for the Black Data Processing Associates (BDPA) and writes for the Where Are Blacks In Technology blog, where he addresses issues concerning the lack of participation of African Americans and other minorities in the technology arena and promotes ideas to reduce the digital divide. As a doctoral student in the Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) Educational Technology program, Dupé is conducting research to determine success factors in the unique journey of African American males.

Dupé, an accomplished Microsoft Certified Trainer, was recently published in the Texas Computer Education Association's (TCEA) TechEdge journal, and was invited to speak on using virtual worlds as a means of teaching leadership at the Paris International Conference on Education, Economy & Society.

Dupé holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Technology from GSEP.
